We all know that the PS4 console is going to compliment the PS Vita in a big way. Remote Play is going to give the Vita a new lease of life, but now we have something very useful to show you in terms of how Remote Play works with the PS4, using a 4G connection tethered from a smartphone.

If you didn’t know already, you’ll be able to access your PS4 console away from the home using an local internet connection. As long as your PS Vita is paired up with the PS4, you’ll be able to switch on and start using the PS4 on a variety of different connection scenarios.
- Remote play on PC, scheduled events, Dailymotion and more - the next PS4 system update is going to be a biggie. PS4 system update 3.50 will be available to beta users from March 2, before rolling.
- Remote Controller Functional Controller. For iOS, the remote controller only supports previous/next, pause/play. Since the iOS is a closed system, any normal remote controller for iPhone compatibility is less good. For Android, both modes can work well, includes 1). Adjusting and muting volume; 2). Playing video or music; 3).
One of these is by using a 4G LTE connection tethered to the PS Vita from a smartphone, which is then picked up by the PS4 system away from the home. Navigation on the PS4 will be dependant on the connection speed of course, but we have a video to show you which gives you an idea of the surprising functionality that this still offers.
We see that a 4G LTE-powered PS Vita which is 10 miles away from the PS4 system, is still perfectly able to navigate through the menus fine. Even more rewarding, is that some games appear to be playable – the user chose Resogun as the example in the video.
There are some moments of lag, which are to be expected – but otherwise you have to say that this is highly impressive. With 4G LTE data plans becoming the norm on all new smartphone purchases, we could see this exact tactic used on many PS Vita systems to connect to the PS4.
